Gurugram: The Ministry of Health has installed three oxygen reinforcement plants throughout Gurugram to ensure sufficient supply in the case of other Covid-19 waves.
Unlike the swing absorption factory (PSA), the oxygen amplifier can extract the gas directly from the air and fill the cylinder with it.
Oxygen produced in a booster plant can be transferred from one facility to another on a tanker, which is not possible at the PSA factory.
The booster plants installed in the city can overall meet around 550 type D cylinders in a day.
One type D cylinder can accommodate 46 liters of oxygen.
At present, Gurugram has 2,600 cylinders type D.
Oxygen amplifier factory has been established at ESIC Hospital in Sector 9, Pataudi Government Hospital and temporary health facilities at Devi Lal Stadium.
While the factory knows Devi Lal can fill 350 cylinders type D a day, the other two can jointly fill 200 cylinders.
According to health officials, Gurugram needs around 60 tons of oxygen every day during the second covid wave.
At the peak of the pandemic in May, all the main hospitals in the city depend on Gujarat and Rajasthan for liquid oxygen, which are supplied in tankers and even trains.
“Three oxygen booster plants will reduce dependence on liquid oxygen.
If a tanker is delayed on a certain day, then we can fill the cylinder of this plant, which can be sent to the hospital.
We aim to develop health infrastructure in such a way that we have an alternative in the case Another wave, “said Medical Chief Gurugram Virender Yadav.
