Gurugram: In the midst of lack of open and green spaces for recreational purposes, the Metropolitan Development Authority Gurugram (GMDA) is building running and jogging lines along Wazirabad water, as well as a park that includes Acre.
This will be done as part of a larger project involving water revival.
GMDA District Forest Officer Subhash Yadav said that the track would be developed around the body of the water.
The park will be developed with facilities such as children’s play area, open gym and open amphitheater.
“We have started working on the running track, and it’s halfway.
Working on water recovery is around 25% finished so far,” Yadav said.
Wasbody Wazirabad is spread in 30 hectares and has experienced encroachment for years.
As a result, the metropolitan authority has decided to first revive and develop 18 hectares of water in the phase.
The source said this was caused by severe encroachment in the remaining 12 hectares.
Under the first phase, GMDA has completed water cleaning and starting the fence around it.
This project is funded by GMDA with the company’s social responsibility initiative (CSR).
The Awakening Project of Waterbody was proposed in 2018 and began in 2019 after Minister of Manohar Minister Lal Khattar launched the project.
However, about two years later, the work was only around 25% complete, while the work on the resurrection of Sikanderpur water was almost close to the completion.
Both of these waterbodies will be developed as a model project which can then be used as a standard for other waterbodi awakening in the city.
TII previously reported that GMDA was almost finished working on Banybody Sikanpur, almost two years after the project was launched.
This area has been cleaned from encroachment and it took several months before opening to the public.
The main part of the work, including water cleaning and the removal of encroachment around it, is over.
