Gurugram: A 41-year-old woman and her 26-year-old brother died on Wednesday night after the trench wall they were digging in the construction site in sector 56 surrendered, burying both under tons of land.
Three other daily bets, who worked a few meters away and had narrow escape, could issue Malkan (26) and Guddu (41) after almost half an hour.
Both of them rushed to the nearest hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
The two who died came from the Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh.
Their family members accused that contractors who had involved they did not provide adequate safety equipment to one of the workers.
The five workers, police said, have dug almost 15 feet in the form of ‘L’.
While Guddu and Malkhan worked beside where the wall surrendered, the three were on the other side.
Contractors and three workers who pulled Malkan and Guddu came out of the land mounds could not be tracked on Thursday, the police said.
Brother Malkhan Rajkumar (31) said they were looking for a match for him and planned to marry him this week himself.
Rajkumar, who is a painter, and Malkhan has worked together for three months on other sites in sector 23.
“The project was finished and we came home.
We returned a few weeks later,” he said.
Rajkumar said Malkhan called him a few days ago and told him that he had got a job on a new construction site in Sector 56.
“On Wednesday, we got a call from the police that he was no longer,” he said.
Rajkumar and Malkan are five siblings – three brothers and two sisters.
Three brothers work in various construction sites in the city.
“The contractor who has recruited my brother I have not taken any security measure.
This caused their death,” Rajkumar said.
Other workers who died, Guddu, was a mother of three.
Her husband, also a construction worker, has gone to MP a few days ago.
The oldest son, Sunil (21), worked at the construction site in Delhi.
“My mother has lived with our relatives in Gurugram and worked on a construction site.
He did not have a cellphone.
We only talked when we met,” he said, adding that his father had risen the train for Gurugram from MP.
Following complaints from Rajkumar, a case was registered against contractors and unknown people underneath 304a (death due to negligence) and 34 (general intentions) IPC at the Sector Police Station 56.
Sub-inspector Jai Baghwan, who was an investigative officer in the case This, said they were looking for contractors.
