Gurugram: The couple has been ordered for allegedly deceiving the wife of Retired Defense Officer Rs 12 Lakh under the pretext of investment at the property.
The couple also persuaded him to find buyers for various properties in Gurugram by promising to him part of the incentives they would receive from the builder for sales, police said.
The defendant has been identified as Vijay Singh Sangwan and his wife of Puja.
According to the complainant, who was the wife of a retired captain and lived in sector 57, he met the couple in October 2019.
They soon became friends and partners often met with a complainant.
He alleged that the couple claimed to be a property investor and promised to return if he joined them.
They also offered him an incentive of RS 1 lakh on each sale carried out by his business.
The complainant said he facilitated the order of seven units at the two different builders properties for the couple, investing in themselves or securing investments from their friends.
The unit costs more than Rs 11 Crore, he said.
The couple allegedly persuaded him to invest in a project in Chattarpur.
He paid the pair of Rs 5.5 Lakh in July 2020 and the other 6.5 lakh Rs next month, he said.
However, after receiving money, they allegedly began to avoid calls and messages.
He later found that investment in Chhatarpur was made without entering his name in the order.
He also found that the couple had also deceived other people too, he said in his complaint.
“A pine is registered against the pair below 120b (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) IPC at the Sector 56 police station on Sunday.
The investigation is underway,” said a senior police officer.
