Sathean said that the appointment at the Open University of Sree Narayana Teacher was made by ignoring UGC rules and guidelines, as well as the appointment of Chancellor’s representative at the University of Kannur.
In his letter to the minister’s chairman, the governor has agreed to accusations of opposition regarding this issue.
He now must immediately take a step to correct his mistake, Satheani said.
He further said that the opposition would not let the university be converted into a large department from the AKG Center.
UDF will protest the government’s move and even the governor is not beyond criticism, he said.
Former opposition leader Rameesh Chennithala said that after the governor wrote to the minister’s chairman, the higher education sector in the country had jammed.
“Presented that the governor had not yet gone through any file that came to him in his capacity as a chancellor, after he wrote to the Minister of Chief,” said Chennithala.
He demanded that the University of Kannur VC Gopinath Ravindran immediately release the post, and if he did not go down alone, the governor must immediately roll it.
Chennithala said that in the case of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, the government must publish files regarding the appointment of VC as governor and the main minister has submitted a conflicting statement.
He further said that the Minister of Higher Education R Bindu, who intervened illegally in the removal of the University of Kannur VC, must immediately resign from the post.
