Guwahati: Cotton University starts the receipt process, offers 25% more seats

Guwahati: Cotton University (Cu) on Tuesday opened its online portal to accept the acceptance form for the undergraduate program (UG) with an increase in 25% intake capacity to overcome the possibility of the chair crisis.
Cu Sanjay Dutta academic registrar said the 25% seat was provided for the Assam State Backouts board in the midst of the chair crisis because of the high percentage of graduating on the XII board this year.
At the same time, leading state universities have decided to register students from the economically weaker part (EWS) in a 10% seat for the first time.
The receipt process has begun in Cu after a prolonged delay, but the university authority says the whole process can conclude in September.
“We will continue to receive online forms for all undergraduate programs in science and art until September 16.
It has been decided to increase seats by 25% so that students merit from the State Council are not seized,” said Dutta Toi.
The lack of clarity on controversial seat bookings 75:25 in UG courses for the State Council and CBSE Passouts continued in Assam because most educational institutions have not received the revised order.
While the previous order passed by the Directorate of State Higher Education in August has requested universities and state universities to order 75% of seats for the State Council students, Minister of Education Ranoj Pegu then announced that board-based reservations will not apply in urban areas.
Officials at Cu said in the remaining seats, regardless of a 25% increase, entrance tickets would be purely based on achievement and according to the performance reflected in the mark sheet.
Instructions on the EWS quota came from the state government last year, but the policy could not be followed because the acceptance process had ended when Cu received direction.
Reception will now be held around 1,250 seats UG (BA and BSC Honors, BCA and BA -Liberal Arts) after an additional seats 25% have been intended.
“List of manuals expected on September 22, while acceptance tends to be held in the last week of this month,” Dutta said.
Last year, 25% of seats in all Assam colleges at the title level were increased due to a pandemic because many students could not go outside the country for higher studies.
