GHAZIABAD: A FIR was registered on Tuesday against six people, such as journalists and Congress politicians, under different parts of the IPC for sharing movies on Twitter that authorities maintained granted a”patriotic twist” into the attack 72-year-old Abdul Samad at Loni on June 5.
Three things — Twitter Inc, Twitter Communication India Pvt Ltd along with also a news portal site — were named in the FIR which was registered in Loni border police channel.
Ghaziabad SSP Amit Pathak verified the FIR.
Akhilesh Mishra, SHO of all Loni boundary police station, told TOI the individuals booked at the FIR comprised Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of all fact-checking site Alt News, journalists and commentators Rana Ayyub and Saba Naqvi along with Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani and Shama Mohamed of Congress.
They FIR comprises segments under sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of faith ), 295A (willful and malicious acts meant to outrage religious beliefs ), 505 (publishing or circulating any statement, rumour or accounts together with intention to incite), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of this IPC.
Mishra said activity was obtained by Ghaziabad authorities because most of them had shared that the movies in their Twitter grips without affirming it.
Zubair had previously posted his Twitter accounts,”I have deleted the movies I had submitted.
The sufferer’s version of him being made to chant’Jai Shri Ram’ at the time don’t appear to add up according to my discussions with authorities along with other journalists reporting this matter.”
