Ghaziabad: The RT-PCR lab at MMG District Hospital will be very likely to shortly receive a machine which will improve its testing capability by nearly 50 percent.
Officials stated multiple letters were sent into the state authorities, searching for an RNA extractor for its lab.
In case the device is set up, the testing capability will move up from 900-1,000 currently to 1,500.
The lab, put up in August 2020, has analyzed over 1.5 lakh samples up to now.
The requirement for its RNA extractor — priced about Rs 30 lakh — was increased with the authorities time and again, however, the hospital is to have the device.
But, Ghaziabad officials are optimistic of finding the extractor shortly in light of the next wave.
“The system was given to several different labs in the country, such as people in smaller districts.
Ghaziabad, that has among the largest labs at a government hospital setup, must have obtained this way sooner.
Letters are sent and we’ve been assured it might be offered to us quite soon,” a senior health department official stated.
Staff posted in the Ghaziabad laboratory stated that with the support of the RNA extractor, the job of 2 changes may be completed in a single.
“Together with more RNAs readily available, more testing could be carried out.
Approximately 2,000 samples have been accumulated for RT-PCR evaluations every day.
Half of these must get delivered to some Noida laboratory for testing.
Currently, the problem is in check.
But as soon as the next wave was in its summit, the functioning was stretched and it resulted in delay in demanding reports.
Manual work throughout sampling requires a good deal of time,” a laboratory worker stated.
There are currently 15 technicians and supporters in the laboratory, besides two microbiologists and a single information operator.
