GZB: Mystery Stabber On Prowl; 2 attacking women

Ghaziabad: The knife attack on two women in the last two days has triggered a hunt for a mystery, which is believed to be a man in his 20s.
In both cases, the attackers entered women and stabbed them in their sleep.
In the Maharajpur city area, where the sower took place, the police had increased patrols and locals took turns to put up the curfew, afraid that crazy attackers were loose.
While the police have not identified suspects, the use of similar operandi mode shows it can be the work of the same person.
CCTV footage from one of the incidents, police said, showed that the defendant could be between 20 and 25 years old.
The first attack, the police said, was reported on Thursday afternoon when the locals, Shehnaj (27), were stabbed with a kitchen knife on the head, while he slept at his ground floor house.
“Around 5.40 a.m.
on Thursday, my wife was alone at home.
She fell asleep while leaving the main door of teaching.
The attacker crept in, took the kitchen knife from our house and stabbed Shehnaj at the temple, just a few inches from his right eye, before trying to escape .
Even with a knife piercing his head, Shehnaj tried to give him a pursuit but fainted a few meters away, “said Aslam, the woman’s husband.
The woman was taken to a private hospital by pedestrians where she underwent an hour’s surgery to remove the knife.
“The attacker almost missed his right eye,” said Aslam, an e-rickshaw driver, added that even though he was out of danger, it was a long way for recovery.
Police at the Link Road police station have received CCTV camera snippets from the incident from the adjacent building.
In the recording, a young man, wearing shorts, looks out of house, police said.
Seconds later, Shehnaj was also seen trying to chase his attacker.
In the second incident, Hasmina Khatun (23), who lived a few blocks away from Shehnaj, was stabbed on his face on Friday night.
Ran Singh, Station House Officer (sho) from the Road link, said, “The second attack lasted around 7pm.
It seems that the attacker sneaked into the house of the fourth floor of Khatun as he fell asleep and stabbed him on his face with a kitchen knife.
The woman suffered an injury and had to be rushed to a local hospital.
“Police said there was no evidence of attacks or victims who were connected in any way.
“We have questioned two families and neighbors.
It seems that the attacker is crazy mentally because there is no little personal hostility and randomized victims,” Singh said.
While the condition of the two women is currently stable, twin attacks have created panic in the region with people alert to step outside their homes.
“Maharajpur residents, especially women and children, are quite shaken after a back-to-back knife attack.
We take turns to keep locality, most at night.
Residents are also recommended to keep their doors locked at all times,” Bhavtosh said, residents local.
