Noida / Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad on Tuesday reported 1,679 new Covid cases in the highest one-day surge that had been recorded by the district since the pandemic began in March 2020, said health officials.

New infections have encouraged the number of active cases in the district to 6.125, at least 1,500 more than Monday.
Twenty-six patients in Ghaziabad are currently accepted in different hospitals, with eight others who need oxygen, said district health officials.
In Gautam Budh Nagar, 1,442 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours even when Sunil Sharma Chief was tested positive for infection.

Sharma is currently in house isolation, officials said.
More than 45 doctors at Sharda Noida Hospital have also been tested positively.
