Ghaziabad: Amit Agarwal (41), an IT professional and Kaushambi residents in Ghaziabad, were tested positive Covid in April this year.
When many people struggle with post-covid complications, Agarwal find motivation and goals in the plantation drive.
Immediately after his recovery in May, he decided to volunteer on the journey of plantation in Vijay Nagar – the location for upcoming urban forests.
Professionals who work like Amit of all Ghaziabad have joined hands to contribute time and effort to develop forests in a plot of one hectare in Pratap Vihar in Vijay Nagar.
The forest is being built in the style of Miyawaki Japan to create solid habitat for birds, as part of the GMC drive to check air pollution in the city.
Miyawaki is a technique pioneered by a Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki.
It helps build solid and original forests.
This system helps ensure plant growth 10 times faster and the produced plantations are 30 times more dense than usual.
This involves planting dozens of original species in the same area and become maintenance free after the first three years.
In Pratap Vihar forests, 71 puppies, including bushes and climbers are being planted.
Drive is being carried out by NGOs, the earth that is safe, and is supported by a bright body.
About 20,000 puppies will be planted in 18 square patches in this place.
The forest is being built after the success of the pilot plantation drive conducted in Sai UPvan near the Hindon Metro station where a 1000 Km square forest field has been successfully developed as an urban forest.
“I volunteered for the previous Sai UPvan project and when this was announced, I joined.
I have covid but because this is for the environment, I’m interested in him.
The work starts around 9am and volunteers join every time they can,” Agarwal said.
