Ranchi: The day after the police team from Patna allegedly took advocates and public prosecutors in Jharkhand from his residence here, the Habeas Corpus petition was submitted before the State High Court on Monday which tried to express his existence from the person.
Advocate’s wife has filed a petition before the court who is expected to hear this problem on Tuesday, Secretary of the Advocacy Association of the Jharkhand High Court Navin Kumar said.
Advocates identified as Rajneesh Vardhan, a Sukhdevnagar resident at Jharkhand State Capital, allegedly taken by a police team from his residence at around 10:30 a.m.
on November 7 without divulping any information to his family, the petition said.
Vardhan’s wife Sweta Priyadarhini told the Jharkhand High Court Advocate Association, and also sent an email to Jharkhand Offices Director General of Police and Senior Ranchi Police Supervisors who were looking for information about her husband.
Kumar said Vardhan had become an advocate since 2003 and was in Ranchi with his wife and daughter.
He was taken away by police Patna accompanied by police from the Sukhdevnagar police station here, the petition mentioned.
Kumar said the problem must have been known by senior police officers in Ranchi who allowed the police team from Patna to take Vardhan without following the right norms while making inter-country arrests.
Highlighting the guidelines set by the Supreme Court in such cases, Kumar further said that the police should produce Vardhan before a judge who has not been carried out.
Vardhan’s wife said in a petition that her husband was beaten by the police who hit their homes.
He also said that one police officer told him that Vardhan was taken to Patna.
Even though there was a request made by her husband to the police team to show the guarantee of the arrest or transit detention order, the police attacked him and forced him into their vehicle, the petition said.
Condemning the action, the Jharkhand member of the Jharkhand Council of Hemant Kumar member Shikarwar said the alleged left-handed police need to be examined as an advocate had been taken away by force without providing any information.
Although the High Court was closed because the ongoing Diwali-Chhat vacation was expected to hear the problem on November 9, Kumar said.
