Washington: The hackers are thought to be behind mass ransomware attacks affecting hundreds of companies around the world on Sunday demanding $ 70 million to recover data, according to posts on a dark website.
Demand posted on the site that is usually used by Cybercrime Gang Revil, a Russian-related group calculated among the virtual world government in the world of cybercriminal.
Gang has an affiliate structure, occasionally makes it difficult to determine who talks about hackers on behalf of hackers, but Allan Liska from the Cybersecury firm that records the future saying the message “almost certain” comes from the leadership of the core Revil.
The group has not responded to the effort by Reuters to achieve it for comments.
Revil Ransomware attack, which executed the group on Friday, is one of the most dramatic in a series of hackers that increasingly attracted attention.
The gang entered Kasya, a Miami-based information technology company, and used their access to violating some client clients, triggered a chain reaction that quickly paralyzed hundreds of companies around the world.
Cybersecurity experts quickly blamed Revil for the attack.
The week’s statement was the first public recognition of the group that it was behind him.
The executive in Keyya said the company knew the ransom demand but did not immediately return a further message that was looking for comments.
Liska said he believed the hackers had bitten more than they could chew.
“For all their big talks on their blog, I think it comes out of hand and is far greater than they expected,” he said.
