Hackers may have SBI ATM targeted at 10 states: Police Chief

Nagpur: Amitesh Kumar City Police Chief said on Thursday, the hackers of alley caught by the DCP Noorul Zonal team might target SBI ATMs in at least 10 other states.
The amount of cash covered by gangs from the ATM can run to several lakh, the top police said.
Kumar said the RBI needed to be warned about the security gap in certain SBI ATM brands, which made them very vulnerable throughout the country.
The same gang is also behind the theft of RS6.30 lakh cash from the Solapur ATM to 63 transactions in the past.
The Hasan team on Wednesday netted Iqbal aka Panchhi Khan from Palwal in Haryana, from where his two legs, Anees Khan and Mohd Talebeb, had been arrested before with the help of the police.
After the arrest of Iqbal, the police also recovered RS35,000 in cash from his residence.
Police said Taleeb had shared his wife’s ATM card with Iqbal and Anees, who had used it in Nagpur between July 14 and 17 to steal RS6.75 Lakh from four SBI ATMs.
The gang, the detail of his cellphone calls shows their presence in 10 different states, will tour Mumbaj, Goa and other places to enjoy before returning to their home place.
The car is expensive, worth RS12 Lakh, also bought by them.
The car, now confiscated by the police, was hypothed into the bank to mislead investigations.
The police managed to track the gang in Palwal in Haryana with the help of detailed addresses and contact numbers equipped with banks for hypotheses.
Meanwhile, the police team with Anees and Taleeb arranged to reach Nagpur on Thursday night and Iqbal will be taken on Friday by a different team.
