New York: Hackers Compromise Email System Investigation Bureau on Saturday and send tens of thousands of messages that warn the possibility of cyberattack, according to agents and security specialists.
Fake email seems to come from the legitimate FBI email address that ends in@ic.fbi.gov, the FBI said.
Even though the hardware affected by the incident was “taken offline quickly after the discovery of the problem”, the FBI said, “This is a sustainable situation.” The hackers sent tens of thousands of emails that warned the possibility of Cyberattack, the Spambhaus threat tracking organization told the twitter account.
A copy of the email posted by Spamhaus on Twitter shows the subject line “urges: actor threat in the system” and appears to end with registration from the US Homeland security department.
