New Delhi: Prime Minister of Twitter Handle Narendra Modi was hacked for a short time on Sunday with a tweet stating that India has “officially adopted Bitcoin as a legal tender”.
The Prime Minister’s office then said that the account was immediately guaranteed after the problem increased to Twitter.
“The @Narendramodi twitter handle is very compromised briefly.
The problem is enhanced to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured.
In a brief period that the account is compromised, every tweet distributed must be ignored,” he said.
This is not the first time hackers target social media accounts about leading political personality or government officials.
In September 2020, the handle of his personal website was hacked and even then the tweet promoted Bitcoin, seen to be associated with fraud, posted from @narendramodi_in.
In July last year, the cyber striker has hacked a twitter account from a famous Western personality like former US President Barack Obama, US President Joe Biden (later a Democratic presidential candidate), the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos, CEO Tesla Microsoft, and Tesla Elon CEO Musk.
The incident also came when India took a difficult attitude in Cryptocurrency, with the government scheduled to introduce the law to deal with this problem.
‘More than 30,000 incidents of cyber security on the government in 2021 in accordance with the central government data, there have been more than 30,000 cyber security incidents related to government organizations until October this year.
The number of cyber security incidents related to government organizations has passed 50,000 in 2020.
On Friday, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has shared the details of the cyber security threat at Lok Sabha in a written answer.
“The government is very aware of the threat of cyber security because the internet expands and more & more Indians are connected and using the internet.
The Indian computer emergency response team (certificate) is mandated to track and monitor cyber security incidents in India,” Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has told Lok Sabha .
Certificates have reported that a total of 1158208 and 1213784 cyber security incidents were observed during 2020 and 2021 (up to October) respectively, he said in a written reply.
“From here, a total of 54314 and 32736 cyber security incidents were related to government organizations during 2020 and 2021 (up to October) respectively,” Minister said.
The Minister also gave a parliament that a number of steps had been taken including the formulation of the Cyber ​​crisis management plan to fight cyber attacks and cyber terrorism for implementation by all ministries and departments.
