KABUL: Taliban prepared to establish their new Islamic government suddenly, gave the name Haibatullah Akhundzada, the top religious leader of the rebellion, as the country’s highest authority, according to the Taliban source.
According to the interview with the Taliban and other sources in Kabul and Kandahar, Akhundzada will be the highest authority of the new Islamic government.
Akhundzada, who has met with leadership in Kandahar, has been referred to as “Za’eem” or “Rahbar” in official discourse, both mean “leader,” a careful degree similar to Iran’s head, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, one of the founders of Taliban who have served as representatives of group leaders in recent years, are expected to be responsible for everyday affairs as head of government.
Baradar acted as the main negotiator for the group in peace talks with the US in Qatar, leading an agreement that cleared the road for the US.
The position of other major governments is expected to go to Sirajuddin Haqqani, another representative and operating leader influential in the movement, and Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob, who is the founding son of the Taliban Movement, Mullah Mohammad Omar.
It is still unclear is the role of Shura Leadership or Board and whether his membership will fulfill the Taliban promise to build inclusive government.
Other Taliban leaders are expected to receive cabinet posts including conscious Ibrahim, who have served as Minister of Home Affairs de facto since the Taliban takeover.
