Half finished St. Andrews RD to be turned on again

Mumbai: Jalan St Andrews in Bandra, which was repaired in a bad way in 2018 by a contractor whose service was then stopped by BMC, will be placed again.
Popular road conditions, which switch from Bandra’s Hill Road to St Dominic Road and are one of the main connectors for motorists who come from Bandra and Khar and head to Worli Sea Link, has been in bad condition since then.
This road is currently half done on asphalt and other portions on the Paver block.
Regarding the unity of abuse of public money and the chaos produced in the proven BMC annual road repair contract.
If this contractor has done a bad job, it implies that he has cut an angle and uses inferior quality materials.
It is widely trusted that such a contract involves kickback.
When this newspaper suggested in the past, the only long-term solution was to break the Nexus between these contractors, officials and selected representatives.
There was also a complaint from the wrong storm water disposal network which caused water logging in the area.
The concrete cement that BMC has proposed for roads now is part of RS 2,000-crore-plus tender work that floated recently.
Corporator Bandra Asif Zakaria said that he had, in a letter to the additional BMC commissioner in July 2019, proposed that the increase in the road was carried out in the concrete cement with the path and coincide by putting storm waterways.
“St.
Andrews and St Dominic Road is a busy road.
This area has various educational institutions such as St Andrews School, St Andrews College, Arya Vidya Mandir and Holy Family Hospital, making it a busy vehicle road and pedestrians,” Zakaria said.
He said that the locals had long demanded that the road be carried out in a holistic way rather than only coating proposed in 2018 but left halfway.
In May 2018, TOI first reported about how BMC had taken the repair work of St Andrews Road to replace the existing paver block with asphalt.
However, this is only half done and contractor services are stopped when residents complain that repair work is done in an unprofessional way.
John Soares, a local resident, said that the contractor was unable to do a good job and that there was a need to do road work holistically.
Zoru Bhathena activist, who lives in Khar, said that he was surprised when he found St Andrews Road on the road list to be repaired.
“The authorities have several times laid back the road, which is questioned,” he said.
