Half kg tumour removed from Mind

Surat: For the previous one-and-a-half decades, 50-year-old Mukta Dhanani has popped variety of painkillers to get nagging pain.
Residing in a little village of Dhari taluka at Amreli district, Dhanani never anticipated, all this time, which a tumour was growing inside her mind, which might have become deadly for her.
The tumour, that was weighing almost half a kilo, was growing so aggressively a part of her skull bone was squeezed into it.
On Wednesday afternoon, Dhanani obtained a fresh lease of life in a private hospital at Surat as soon as the tumour was removed successfully.
Physicians, who worked on her, were surprised as they hadn’t ever seen a situation like hers at in south Gujarat.
“There are a number of listed tumours thicker compared to hers at Mumbai and Jaipur.
This is a highly competitive tumour for part of the skull had dissolved to it,” explained Dr Hitesh Chitroda, a city-based neurosurgeon.
Dhanani’s tumour has been 10.7 cm in length, 9.2 cm in diameter and 5.7 cm in height and weighed 425 g.
A portion of skull bone of comparable magnitude had excavated to the tumour, stated Chitroda, who combined with other neurosurgeons Dr Maulik Patel and Dr Milan Sojitra and anaesthetist Dr Pritesh Vyas ran the operation.
Dhanani gained familiarity and is now recovering in an intensive care unit.
“My mum was able to have the hassle frequently, so that she was able to carry the tablets and we did not take it seriously,” explained Dhanani’s son Atul.
When her own scalp developed puffiness around three weeks before, the family took to the hospital at Amreli.
CT scan reports revealed that she had a tumour and the physicians advised them to carry her to a larger hospital.
Dhanani was shot into Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, however, the doctors there refused to run her operation promptly because the pandemic was in its summit.
“Doctors prescribed medications and requested us to talk again following a month.
However, as soon as people left, the tumour’s size had improved along with doctors there told me the operation might need to be performed promptly,” Atul stated.
On the other hand, the household wasn’t entirely happy with the findings and they got in contact Dr Chitroda and chose her into Surat.
“When folks suffer with persistent acute headache, giddiness, hair swelling, difficulty in walking, or detect any behavioral alterations or seizures they need to consult a physician because these are typical signs of a tumour,” explained Dr Chitroda.
