New Delhi: While Delhi is the only city in this country that has given more than 2 doses of crore vaccines and almost half of the population of adults now fully vaccinated, more than 19 lakh who qualified to get shots.
A drive has now begun to identify these beneficiaries.
Until 7:00 on Sunday, 2,04,80,189 vaccine doses have been given, including 1,30,54,901 the first dose and 74.25.288 seconds.
With the number of people who qualified around 1.5 crore, 49.5% of adults have been fully vaccinated and 87% have received at least one dose of vaccines.
With 19.4 lakh adults still not vaccinated, the cause of this concern was discussed in a recent meeting of Delhi disaster management authorities, said source.
In the meeting, it was discussed that Delhi led in vaccination among Metro cities, “targeted approaches” are being implemented to reach out-qualified beneficiaries that have not received a single vaccine dose.
Efforts are also active to create awareness about getting the second dose of vaccines in time.
Resources say efforts to first identify the population left behind from vaccination drives, both due to vaccine doubts or other reasons, and also carry out broad information, educational and communication campaigns to create awareness.
The cellular team to reach this recipient has been created at the district level to try and mobilize the eligible population to vaccinate.
The Delhi government will also arrange special camps for them, said source.
Of the 2 doses of crore managed in Delhi, 64.3% (1,31,74,658) received by those in the 18-44 year category.
In category 45-59 years, the number is 48.70.161 or 23.7% of the total dosage given.
Those who are 60 years and above have received 24,35,689 (12%) doses.
While the north western district has given the highest number of vaccine doses at 24,42,392, the South West District is in second place with 23.65,116 doses.
Compared to the 8.48,730 second dose managed by the North West District, South West District has provided 8.66,646.
On the other hand, the northeastern district saw the second number of second doses given at 3.96,468, despite having more cumulative doses (9.03,571) compared to the Shahdara and New Delhi districts, which have been managed around 6 lakh total shots.
While around 2 doses of the lakh vaccine were given the previous day, it has fallen around 75,000 every day.
With a large number of qualified populations after receiving their first dose of vaccines, the second number of doses given is now higher.
Drive vaccination, which began on January 16 this year, reached high doses of nearly 11 lakh given a week between June 26 and July 2.
It reached all time high of 11.6 lakh doses between 18 and September 24.
More than 2 lakh people sailed in a day on September 25 and 27, but the number hasn’t passed the 2 lakh mark in a day since then.
