Hanoi: Vietnam locked eight million people in Hanoi on Saturday, the latest efforts to curb serious Coronavirus outbreaks that have forced a third of the country to stay at home.
Authorities report more than 7,000 new infections throughout the country on Friday – a third record number of daily infections in a week.
The capital center is usually crowded and closed shops when locking takes effect, even though people can still be seen on the streets on the outskirts of the city.
“I think people in Hanoi when I agree with the sudden decision of the city suddenly in the city,” said the local resident Nguyen Van Chien.
“We must take economic risks to fight a pandemic,” he added.
After successfully loading the limited Koronavirus outbreak last year, Vietnam has seen cases of skyrocketing since the end of April.
About one third of the 100 million Vietnamese people are subject to locking orders.
But this outbreak has shown some signs that slow down and South Commercial Ho Chi Minh City – who have recorded the majority of recent cases – extend staying at home on Friday.
“I have been in the room for a month.
The situation in our city is scary,” said Resident Le Bich Thanh told AFP.
Authorities begin the campaign to disinfect the entire city, which they say will take a week.
Vietnam was one of the few economies that developed last year because of its success in loading viruses during the first wave of pandemic.
But Southeast Asian countries have been slow to buy and manage vaccines, with nearly 4.5 million doses given so far.
It also developed its own inoculation and authority saying they hoped to reach the closer of the flock in early 2022.
Vietnam has an inpatient policy of all virus operators, placing medical workers and hospitals under major pressure, although the rules have been appointed in several regions.
