Kolkata: The CBI formed four teams to investigate complaints of murder and rape compiled by the NHRC LED committee, hours after the Calcutta High Court Five Judges Bench submit cases to the Central Investigation Agency on Thursday.
Agency also searched for details of the case from Director of West Bengal General Virendra Police.
Each team consisting of seven members will be led by the Joint Director’s level officer and includes the Deputy Inspector General and Supervisors.
According to sources, Ajay Bhatnagar’s additional director is likely to monitor the progress of the investigation.
The source said so far around 25 officers have been intended by Delhi, Lucknow, Chennai and from other states, and they will be divided into four teams.
On Friday, CBI wrote to DGP who looked for details of the case.
“The court has clearly limited the cases that the CBI and sit will investigate.
We have asked the state government to give us case details.
The FIR will be submitted after that,” said a CBI official.
The five-member Division of HC members on Thursday was handed over to the CBI of the Investigation of Murder, Rape and Cruelty of Women allegedly carried out during violence after the poll.
In his observation, the acting chairman of Judge Rajesh Bindal said that in a number of cases, the FIR was registered after the NHRC LED committee marked the incident.
There was a fire shot registered against political workers and supporters of a party that was not in power.
According to the CBI source, the team began working immediately after the probe was handed over.
After they received documents from the state government, the team will go to Bengal where they will conduct an extensive investigation into the allegations.
