Haritha Karma Sena starts a collection of dry waste

Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Council held by City Corporation on Monday approved the decision to entrust a series of tasks with Haritha Karma Sena.
The team will be responsible for creating awareness about the management of resource level waste and can install biogas plants to process waste at the community level.
At present, 443 members have begun working at 41 wards in the city covering 14,375 houses.
Surveys are taking place at 82 wards.
City Corporation previously approved the decision to launch Haritha Karma Sena worker in all hundred wards for non-biodegradable waste collections.
In the board meeting held on January 7, the Permanent Committee proposed that workers collect a total of 4,000 per month as user costs and that their monthly remuneration will be repaired as Rs 10,500.
In terms of deficits, the additional amount will be allocated from the Viability Gap fund for a period of six months.
It is proposed that a salary increase will be considered after six months.
It was also decided that Haritha Karma Sena worker would cover 40% of homes in one ward every month.
During the BJP Board Meeting of the Girikumar Board, it has stated the reservation regarding the compulsory collection of Rs 4,000 as a user fee.
He quotes that such clauses must be removed from the proposal.
The amount collected every month will be deposited on an account with the group secretary and the president and the salary will be taken from the account.
According to the document prepared for the functioning of Haritha Karma Sena workers, income from user costs, the amount collected from sales of memo and other items is a monthly source of income.
The department has directed that special wages must be disbursed for workers if local bodies involve them in services other than the gathering door to the door and separation of non-biodegradable materials.
However, the department has shown that VGF will not be given in local bodies where basic tasks are not fulfilled despite the ideal conditions.
In 2018, the government has allowed local agencies to take advantage of a certain amount of plan funds to provide a six-month VGF for Haritha Karma Sena activities.
The amount was approved at RS 23,175 per ward at Gram Panchayat, Rs 46,350 per ward in the city and Rs 92,700 per ward in the company.
