Letters: On Sunday, 1,100 tree trees from 105 different species are planted by a group of similar people taking steps towards creating ‘Miyawaki Forest’ in the city of Bilimora District Navsari.
The city of Bilimora has more than 70,000 populations.
With this, a total of 6,000 trees have been planted by members of the Hariyali Information Group in Bilimora City in the last three years.
This group aims to make the city of green with increasing tree diversity.
“We adopted the famous Miyawaki forest system to plant mini forests in two Bigha land in the middle of urban and industrial land.
This is our first experiment in the city.
We have been actively involved in tree plantations and protection work for the past three years and so far we are us Having managed to raise more than 6,000 trees in Bilimora.
We start with 10 people and now have more than a hundred volunteers, “Dipesh Patel, Principal, VS Patel College of Arts and Science in Bilimora, told Toi.
“We call all small groups and NGOs engage in greening efforts in the city of Bilimora and decide to work together to increase the green cover of the city with various tree species including the rare and endangered ones.
We are not only planting puppies, but also caring for them with trees and water guards until it grows as a tree, “Patel added.
A small initiative taken three years ago has now become a city mission, said Neel Desai, a group volunteer.
