Australia Batsman Marcus Harris will open a blow with David Warner in the ash series against England, said Chairman of George Bailey.
Harris was one of the front runners for the role with Captain Queensland Usman Khawaja, with Will Pucovski, it was likely to lose the first test when he fought with the curry symptoms of the brain.
Bailey accumulates praise at the 29-year-old Harris, who scored a century for Victoria against New South Wales at the beginning of the Sheffield Shield season.
“Harry’s has limited opportunities in the past and he has entered and exits a little, so we will love anything other than him hopefully get the chance to run it,” Bailey told Rsn radio on Wednesday.
“What we like is its consistency.
He clearly became a productive scorer at the domestic level here, but we also like the fact that he went abroad and had a great year for Leicester (Leicestershire County) too.” Bailey said the point five places in the Australian batting line-up were also ready to be contested.
“That number five was open, but we started close enough there,” he said.
The ash five tests will begin on December 8 in Brisbane.
Australia defended ash when the last team met in 2019 in England after a series 2-2 series.
