Hyderabad: Telangana HC on Monday attracts state police for imprisoning a pregnant woman under the prevention of Draconian from the Law of Dangerous Activities (PD).
The justice bench of a Rajasheker Reddy and Judge Shameem Akther sat beside his detention.
It told the home department’s advice, T Srikanth Reddy, that it would not tolerate such detention while hearing the petition that challenged the detention of the Akula Swati, a resident of Nalgonda.
He has been accused of deceiving people with false promises to get Tupperware dealers.
Many people who lost money complained about him after that the police held him under PD Act on May 7.
At present, he is six months pregnant and has a five-year-old son to be guarded.
His mother filed a petition in HC challenging his detention.
His advisor said the crime accused Swati can be handled under the IPC.
“The fact that he was pregnant was enough to release him to the bail and PD Act could not be maintained on such people,” Bench said.
