Gurugram: District administration, on Saturday, announced that the Ministry of Education has identified 45 bus routes in five blocks in Noah to provide free pick-up-and-drop facilities to school girls.
Administration, officials said, are now ready to continue the Balika Scheme of Siksha Vahini for female students, detained because of the Pandemic, with the District Highway Department will run 24 buses on the identified route.
“The Hanana School Project Board has launched this initiative to advance the government’s commitment to ‘Bethi Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and prevent school dropouts.
Services, however, are detained for some time, and we have received a request to continue,” said Deputy Commissioner Noah Shakti Singh.
The Ministry of Education and Highway conducts consultations to decide on the bus route.
Until now, the scheme is only for school girls, but it will be a clubbed with the Department of Higher Education Project providing free transportation for women to study in rural areas.
On Friday, TOI reported that the Ministry of Education and the Haryana Highway Department, together, will launch 550 buses for college women this month.
All buses will be accessible to school students and colleges.
“More than 40 routes will be served by 24 buses.
Previously, the bus was amrid by school girls, but now, even college women can use it.
We have delayed routes for the utilization of maximum resources,” said the Road Department official.
The district education department claims that free transportation will prevent school dropers from school, especially during secondary education.
“The challenge of transportation is one of the main reasons behind dropouts.
Free bus services will increase the retention rate of girls at the school level but also help many women to continue their higher studies in universities far from their villages,” said Education Officers Basically Noah Punia.
