Haryana came with an action plan to save biodiversity

Gurgaon: Members of the Haryana (HSBB) Biodiversity Council and Environmental experts will prepare a 12-year action plan to preserve the country’s biodiversity.
It is hoped that it will be applied in 2022.
On Tuesday, the Board will discuss the strategy to preserve flora and fauna from six districts in South Haryana – Gurgaon, Rewari, Faridabad, Noah, Palwal and Mahendergarh.
Daily discussions will be held in Gurgaon with members of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Bombay Natural History of the Community and Forest Department officials.
The existing plant species, wildlife, and plants found in the region will be identified and pressure on biodiversity will be analyzed.
The discussion for North Haryana has occurred.
The Board will focus on fair distribution of bio-resources among urban local bodies and for this purpose, he has divided the country into four divisions.
“We will take stock of flora and fauna, the status of biodiversity and the latest trends.
We also plan to identify existing threats against ecosystems, documenting traditional knowledge and practices for conservation and focus on managing biodiversity and natural resource governance.
There will be mapping Initial priority areas based on existing report reviews, policy documents and initial results of status, trends and evaluating threats, “said HSBB Chairman Vineet Garg.
“Haryana’s action plan will be prepared according to the purpose of the convention on biodiversity and mainstreaming of biodiversity in all sectors of the Haryana government.
This document will be made to consider the Guidelines for Biodiversity Law, 2002 and 2004 Biodiversity Regulations from the National Biodiversity Authority,” he added.
The Wii will develop a proposal for the project, to be done by consulting with relevant departments and institutions from the Government of Haryana.
This institution will provide guidance on how to formulate and implement a plan to increase sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity.
As part of exercise, data will be collected in genetic diversity and plant species, animals, microbes or other organisms.
Information about ecosystem and habitatical diversity and water and land status will also be collected.
The Board also said that a list of the People’s Biodiversity List (PBR) – tools to maintain local knowledge data on biodiversity with proper validation – has also been designed for Haryana.
This will record perceptions and attitudes of people about natural resources, plants and animals, and utilization and conservation in villages.
“It is important that we collect data before the formulation of action plans.
The right biodiversity management can reduce the effects of climate change,” Garg said.
