Chandigarh: Haryana on Wednesday reduced the minimum age for consumption of liquor, purchasing or sale from 25 years to 21 years by making amendments to its law.
Bill Haryana Excise (Amendment), 2021 was passed by the Assembly with changes in parts 27, 29, 30 and 62 of the Excise Haryana, 1914.
With this, Haryana has brought its policy equivalent to the National Delhi City area earlier this year reducing the age limit to 21 year.
“Approached that the age limit above can be reduced because many other countries have prescribed a lower age limit,” said the state government.
