Karnal: Plaza Toll in Haryana, who has lied non-operations since October last year due to farmer agitation, has begun to charge costs on Monday at a revised price.
Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) President Jagdeep Singh Aulakh together with other farmers made Karnal’s Bastara Toll Plaza operational by cutting the ribbon.
There are two toll plazas under jurisdiction in Karnal District, including Bastara Toll Plaza on NH 44 and Pyont Toll Plaza on the NH 709A.
Workers and security staff have been deployed at the Toll Plaza.
They are waiting to continue operations for a long time.
According to the source, in Bastara Toll Plaza rates have been carried out by Rs 5-10 for heavy vehicles such as buses, trucks and multi-axles.
On the other hand, there are also Rs 50 to RS 275 increase in monthly fees for various categories.
However, rates for cars, jeeps, and vans remain unchanged here.
Last year, when surgery was stopped by farmers in Toll Plaazas, RS 440 was used to charge the bus or truck for a one-way trip, while Rs 660 for a trip back within 24 hours.
But now Rs 445 will be charged for one trip, while RS 665 will be charged for a trip back within 24 hours.
Likewise, the victim for multi-axle vehicles has also been upgraded from RS 705 today to Rs 715 for one trip and from Rs 1,060 to 1,070 for several trips within 24 hours.
The farmers have expressed their concern for traffic congestion in the square and the hole in GT Road and demands that these problems must be resolved as soon as possible.
On the other hand, Bastara toll road officials claim that tariffs are usually revised every year based on the wholesale price index (WPI) which is not related to farmer agitation.
This tariff must be implemented in September this year, but because farmer agitation cannot be done.
This is related to saying here that the NH-44 is one of the busiest highways because around 40,000 vehicles are used to cross Bastara Toll Plaza in 24 hours and it results in income loss.
