Chennai: Madras High Court has suggested that the Tamil Nadu government considers appoint a special team led by IAS officers for the maintenance of the right Marina Beach.
“The beach is not well maintained and often fulfilled, and no one cares,” the bench of the Justice Division and Kirubukan and Justice T V Thamilselvi said on Thursday.

The authorities have also been directed to notify the court about the number of toilets and cellular toilets available on the beach for visitors.

The report must also contain the details of the scheme and the steps taken or will be taken by the corporation to maintain the coast or to increase its beauty, the court added.
The judges have also directed authority to explain the steps taken to build an exclusive fish market near the loop road to prevent fish vendors and community vendors.
The court then Suo Motu opposed zonal officers, the Vending of Corporation Committee and Commissioner of the City Police (COP).
It directs the police to explain whether the proper police protection is provided on the beach and if the police booth is available at various points to prevent crime, considering the beach has a visitor even after 14:00 in the pre-covid period.
The authorities have been directed to submit a report on July 22.
The court then issued a temporary order on the request to find directions to the company to distribute ice cream sellers on the beach.
