HC allows sales of pop idols with motorists

Nagpur: On a jolt for Placer Idol Maker Paris (POP), the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court while dismissing their petition to lift the ban on sales, direct the registry to submit a Suo Motu Pill after the effect of soaking the idol in the body of the water.
Although Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) convinced HC that he had banned the use of pop idol since September 2012, very failure to implement it for years.
The division bench consisting of Judge Sunil Shukre and Anil Kior on Wednesday, but allows makers to sell their products “only as pop objects and not as idols”.
“We feel the need to protect the financial interests of the applicants who have produced several pop idols.
They are allowed to sell idols in express conditions while selling it, they will notify buyers that they are not intended for all types of worship, also not intended to sink in the body Water, natural or artificial.
“The Petitioner was told to provide an effort that they would not sell pop idols during Ganesh or other festivals this year or in the future and then, will stop making them for worship.
As the festival season, NMC again forbade makers from selling POP idols which quote ‘Revised Guidelines for Idol Immersion’, issued on May 12, 2020, with the Central Pollution Control Agency (CPCB).
Applicants – Vinodkumar Gupta and others – then moved justice through Shread Bhandarkar advisers for seeking help that lends that they have prepared more than 4.5 lakh pop idols for Ganesh, Durga and other festivals and their sales ban will cause financial losses for them.
While rejecting their extension, the judges stated that the petition raised important questions about the public interest regarding the use of pop for different purposes and needs for CPCB to regulate its use to prepare different objects not always in the nature of idol.
Delay session until August 31, the judges appointed Bhandarkar as Amicus and asked the registry to hand over a detailed design of the pill.
Citing the CPCB guidelines, the clarification bench that the prime-facie seems to have no prohibition on the use of pop to make other objects such as statues, only limited to pop idols.
“The thoughts behind such prohibitions are quite understandable.
Pop idols are obtained from the market generally for their limited use during the festival.
Furthermore, they are immersed in the water body, which is the main cause of water pollution, increased toxicity of the main food sources such as fish and other aquatic creatures and damage to the environment.
This will underline the need to take guidance seriously and implement it with greater strength.
