Mumbai: In the temporary order that came as aid to the bar owner, the Bombay High Court has notified December 2019 issued by Mumbai Police Commissioner who raised the annual premise license fee for the orchestral permit.
The increase in this category comes from Rs 2,000 to RS 2 Lakh, and a notification with a retrospective effect starting January 1, 2018, report Swati Deshpande.
“The demand is excessive, disproportionate and does not pay at all for the state of the famous pandemic and locking, which even resulted in justice orders to expand the period of restrictions and even ordered temporary stopping the city’s actions against illegal structures,” said the High Court in its order.
Orders, by Judge Gautam Patel and Madhav Jamdar, were passed on November 17 on the petition by Baywatch Restaurant and Bar Owner Anitha Shetty, who challenged the notification of the increase incurred in December 2019 by the police commissioner.
This bar is located on Dadar (e).
The bench said, “We are also not satisfied that this retrospective demand can be done in law.
This is the question we will handle at the next stage.”
