PANAJI: The Bombay High Court in Goa on Tuesday heard cases related to the construction in the Cave International Airport County Zone.
The Indian Navy has been asked to submit a timeline to act on an illegal structure that has been identified.
During the trial, Chicalim Panchayat will also submit a written statement about 74 structures that have emerged in the funnel zone without permission from the Planning and Development Authority (MPDA).
“The ruling flag officers also gave us a timeline where complaints in relation to the structure allegedly appeared in the funnel zone, in a survey, in addition to 60/2, will be discarded,” the High Court had been said after posted hearing for Tuesday.
Likewise, Chicalim Panchayat has been asked to submit “a statement about whether there are almost 74 structures, which may be in the funnel area that appears without permission from MPDA”.
Judge M Sonak and M Jawalkar said that the Pancantian statement was needed because when naval officials went to check the site around the airport, they found 70-75 structures in the funnel area.
“On the question, MPDA stated that they only allowed two of these structures.
Therefore, the question arises about how many structures have emerged without MPDA’s permission.
Sarpanch also has to make a statement about whether there are permissions provided by Panchayat for this structure,” observes High Court.
In February 2020, the High Court directed the Navy and Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to begin actions against illegal construction around the Goa International Airport in nine months.
Apart from the direction, no action taken and at the last trial, the High Court said that it would “consider whether there was an act under the insult of the court needed”.
