Chennai: Madras High Court direct the Tamil Nadu government to come with a legal framework to regulate the associations / sports organizations that function in the state.
Justice R Mahadevan insisted that the association registration was made and their finances were put into supervision.
The judge also directed the state to ensure that no one made the association’s office carrier only based on their financial contribution to the organization.
The court passed the order on the request transferred by S Nithya who accused irregularities in managing funds and other affairs of the Athletics Association of TN.
“The case itself shows that the authority of the development of Tamil Nadu sports seems to have little or without control of one of the associations other than the grants made for them,” said the court.
Functioning based on sports board regulations which is a legal entity and registration with the terms and conditions in the law, will be an important step in ensuring the transparency and accountability of the association, he added.
