HDMC to maintain 5 forests in the twin cities

Hubballi: Thousands of trees will be planted to increase the green cover in Hubballi-Dharwad.
To grow the maximum number of trees in less space, Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has decided to foster five urban forests in twin cities, by adopting the Miyawaki forestry method.
Immediately, puppies will be planted in various places in twin cities.
To have a systematic approach to grow a large number of trees, HDMC has taken steps to develop thick urban forests, three of which will appear in Dharwad and two in Hubballli.
Preparations are made to plant up to 10,000 puppies, on Acre, in every place.
HDMC has chosen four places in the public park area, and has begun preparation for ground leveling and holding the area.
A total of 40,000 puppies of various types of trees will be planted in DodanahakaKoppa, Shambhavi colony, Colony of Raghavendra in Dharwad, and near Tolanakere in Hubballi.
Commissioner HDMC Suresh Itnal said that preparations have been made for fences, drilling Borewells and other activities needed in areas intended, for urban forests.
More than 3,000 puppies have been provided by the Ministry of Forestry, and the rest will be purchased from nurseries and the horticulture department.
In Tolanakere, two areas of land have been intended for urban forests, and they have fenced.
Of the two hectares, the same four parts will be divided into urban forests, herbal medicine parks, tree parks and play zones and breaks, which around Rs 1.5 Crore will be spent, including for lighting and other facilities.
In the remainder of the three areas intended for urban forests in Dharwad in Half-Acre, urban forests will be developed.
This lung space is being developed when oxygen needs have been taken home.
Urban forests have various original species, including trees containing fruit, vines and herbs will appear in hectares in every place.
Nature First Eco-Village will take care of it in Dharwad, and the Rotary Club of Hubballi will defend which is near Tolanakere in Hubballi, for a year.
HDMC will maintain it for the next two years, he added.
