Thiruvananthapuram: cutting party lines, political leaders paid rich tribute to the leader of Congress P T Thomas who died on Wednesday.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan remembers Thomas as a person who raised the main issues in the Assembly and outside, anchored strongly to his political beliefs.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said Thomas was a towering personality and a leader who looked advanced and open-minded who was worried about the environment.
He added that Thomas was a secular person who built a bridge among all communities.
Rahul arrived at Kozhikode airport on a two-day trip to his electoral district on Wednesday, canceling his program and proceeding to Kochi.
KPCC President K Sudhakaran said PT was a progressive face of the Congress in Kerala.
“He scaled the height with his personality strength.
He is a brave leader to tell the world of bad truth,” he said.
Oppo leader V D Satheesan said Thomas was like his brother to him.
“PT always stands on the right side.
His attitude about environmental safety issues and women is exemplary,” he said.
Ramesh Chennithala considering Thomas as a leader who was never ready to make a compromise in his political beliefs.
“He has unlimited ability to get into the problem and presents them force,” Ramesh said.
CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran said Thomas was a leader who was very amazing high ideals in politics.
The State President of BJP K Surendran said Thomas’s death before his time was a big loss for Kerala’s politics.
Union V Minister Muraleedharan said PT had never swayed from his rooted belief.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan called Thomas as a vibrant and dedicated legislator.
Cardinal George Alenchherry said people would always remember PT services for the progress of the community.
Baselios Thomas I, the Catholic Jakobit Church also expressed condolences in the behalf of the Church and himself.
