Margao: All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has pocketed another catch in a wide net that has been thrown in the country’s political waters.
President United Gouops Democratic Party (UGDP) Jorson Fernandes is ready to join the West Bengal Party in a function that will be held in Margao on Monday.
Fernandes has sent a letter of resignation to the Secretary General of the UGDP stating that he resigned as the president of the party and his main member with the effect of October 23.
Fernandes, when contacted, confirmed that he would join TMC on Monday, and said that all details would be disclosed after the formal induction into the party.
However, the Vice President of the UGDP Radharao Gracias, stated that Fernandes had not resigned and that he continued to be the president of regional clothing.
He, however, said that the UGDP has “attacked the agreement” with AITC, details about the nature of the UGDP setting with TMC to be disclosed at the press direction on Monday.
The UGDP has tried to survive after his appearance in several of the last elections.
Regional clothing has lost his recognition as a regional party and also his right for ownership of the symbol of “two leaves” which was emotive.
The UGDP was not recognized as a regional political party by the Indian Election Commission (ECI) in 2012 following a poor performance in a row in several previous elections.
In the 2007 assembly selection, the UGDP has won one seat 40 seat assembly and secures 5% of the total valid votes.
In the 2004 Lok Sabha poll, the party did not win any seat and had secured a 1% of the vote from the total valid sound.
However, according to the order of selection symbols (reservation & allocation), 1968, ECI allows UGDP to use a ‘two leaf’ symbol for that selection.
Following his gloomy output in the 2012 election, the UGDP lost his confession by ECI.
UGDP Vice President Radharao Gracias stated that Fernandes had not resigned and said that the UGDP had “hit an agreement” with AITC, details about the nature of the settings with TMC would be disclosed on Monday
