Health center to hospital beds, GZB has an infrared gap to emphasize

Ghaziabad: Be It City Hospitals or a health center in rural areas, Ghaziabad is faced with a large gap between the current health infrastructure and what is needed according to the population.
The district only has four community health centers (CHCS) on requirements nine.
Similarly, there are only 16 primary health centers (PHC) when there must be 31.
There are 119 sub-family welfare sub-villages in the villages while the construction of 25 is awaiting approval due to lack of land.
The Ministry of Health has proposed two hospitals in urban areas, but they have not been approved.
They are 100 bedroom hospitals in the Trans-Hindon area (Vasundhara or Sahibabad) and 50 other bed facilities in the Dundahera.
Under the district plan for 2021-22, the Ministry of Health respectively proposed two CHCS and PHCs.
The lack of health infrastructure is reflected in shortcomings in government facilities.
In urban areas, MMG Regency Hospital, Joint District Hospital and Women’s Hospital have a total of 366 beds.
Given the city population, the number of beds must be around 600.
According to the 2011 census, the Ghaziabad district has a population of 30.8 lakh, where 16.5 lakh people live in the city.
Rural areas have a 9.2 lakh population.
According to the norm, there must be a government hospital for every 5 Lakh populations, one public health center for 1 lakh, the primary health center for 30,000 residents and family welfare sub-centers for 5,000 residents.
So, this is translated into nine CHC, 31 PHCS and 184 family welfare centers in this district.
Although there are three government hospitals in this city, they also serve areas under Loni Municipality, which has a population of 5.2 lakh in 2011.
This means there must be at least two hospitals in the urban area of Ghaziabad.
In an effort to add infrastructure, the Ministry of Health has sent the RS 16.6 Crore budget to the state government to be approved.
However, the construction of CHCS and PHC in accordance with the growing population had been proposed last year too, but they were still waiting to be approved.
Moreover, some of them mired in land problems.
For example, land has not been identified for the construction of PHC in Inderdarhi (Block Razapur) and two CHC in Loni and Bhojpur.
The formation of a primary health center in Jalalabad and Indergarhi has also been proposed last year, but they did not get approval.
This time, the Ministry of Health has proposed to build it for RS 2.2 Crore.
Likewise, CHCS has been proposed in Bhojpur and Patla villages in the plan last year, but their agreement was also delayed.
When land is not available in Bhojpur, officials say the Ministry of Health has decided to increase the phC in Bhojpur to the CHC level.
CHC has also been proposed in Ganoli Village in Loni, but the land for it is not yet available.
“We have sent a proposal to RS 16.6 Crore to the State Government.
Let’s see whether the amount is approved,” said a health department official.
