Patna: The state government’s decision to continue offline classes in elementary and secondary schools with the presence of 50% of August 16 has raised a mixed reaction from health experts.
While some health experts welcomed the decision, others have argued that the government should wait more time because the pandemic has not ended.
However, almost all of them agreed that the authorities must remain vigilant about violations of behavior in accordance with Covid by students and school staff because of the threat of a third covid wave that towered.
The past president directly from the Branch of the Indian Medical Association, Dr.
Bimal Kumar Kakar, appreciated the government’s decision to reopen the school with a view to restore the academic situation.
He said the third wave might be about the country in October, the impact was not as big as the second wave.
“There will be a maximum victim of the fourth if the third wave is at all.
There is no harm in running the class in offline mode with a full Covid protocol.
Children must be well trained to maintain social distance at school,” he added.
Deputy Supervisor of Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Dr.
Satish Kumar, said it was the best time to reopen the school as an incident of Covid-19 infection was at the minimum level.
“The authorities must remain above their toes to ensure that children and teachers follow the behavior in accordance with Covid by wearing masks and maintaining social distance inside and outside the classroom.
There is no direct threat from the third wave, But the situation can worsen if people from countries that are badly beaten like Kerala and Maharashtra began to migrate to Bihar, “he said.
Pediatrician Dr.
Arun Shah said the third wave is expected to hit a country in a month in accordance with the predictions made by experts.
However, this wave will not be deadly as before due to vaccination and development of ongoing antibodies in a considerable part of the people, he said.
Dr.
Shah, however, adding the government should wait some time more, at least for a month, to ensure that the threat of the third wave has subsided.
Gynecologist Dr.
Samam Raman praised the decision to reopen the school, said they could not be closed without limits.
“Most children have begun to develop various types of mental illness because of their prolonged school closure.
However, there is a need to ensure proper cleaning and sanitalization of the classroom and all school places and vaccination of all school staff before the return of offline classes,” Add it.
However, the Dean of the knowledge of Aryabhatta, the Faculty of Medicine, Dr.
Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, however, believes that at least in elementary and secondary schools, offline classes should not be continued until the vaccination of the majority of the population of the country, including children.
“Even if schools are disanitized and all staff are vaccinated, children may be infected while traveling to their schools with personal buses, vans or autorickshaws.
If children in a larger amount are infected, it can cause disasters,” he said.
