Bhubaneswar: Health care services in the state have been influenced by more than 1,000 doctors, paramedics and nurses, including 300 in AIIM just here, after isolation of themselves after positive testing for Covid-19.
Cuttack’s Premier SCB Medical College and Hospital and Vimsar, Burla, also have more than 300 staff in isolation after infection.
“Since January 1, we have seen more than 300 of our people infected with Covid.
At present, the same number of our health staff recovers in isolation.
Because of this, we have decided to close the OPD service from Monday,” Sachidananda Mohanty, AIIMS supervisor ( Bhubaneswar), said.
Because of the high virus transmission in the third wave of Covid, the hospital turns into a hotbeds infection because of the patient’s rush and their relatives in OPSD and IPDs.
SCB officials said more than 200 were infected there, but health care services were not paralyzed considering the power of good doctors, which included senior citizens and PG students.
“About 50% of those infected have continued work,” said Bhubanana Maharana, SCB emergency officer, said.
More than 120 doctors, paramedics, and other support staff also contracted infection at MKCG and Vimsar.
“Many staff fell ill, while several other people recovered replaced the latest to sign a virus, within two days.
We have some problems with the presence of OPD, but it is not hit.
However, it may take more time to return to normal again,” said Lalit Meher, Director of Vimsar.
