Legendary singer Health Lata Mangeshkar has been “improved marginal” but he continued to remain in the ICU, his family said on Tuesday.
The 92-year-old singer tested the positive Coronavirus with mild symptoms and was treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from the Permen Breach Hospital in South Mumbai on January 8.
The Mangeshkar family, through the official singer account, once again asked people not to enjoy spreading “disturbing rumors” about their health conditions.
“There is an increase in marginal in the health of Lata Didi and he continues to be in the ICU.
Please do not spread disturbing rumors or fall prey with a random message about health Didi.
Thank you,” Mangeshkar’s official Twitter account tweeted.
In a separate statement from the family, they said Mangeshkar was treated by a team of doctors, led by Dr.
Pratit Samdani.
“It is impossible to provide updates every day because it is direct intrusion in family privacy.
We ask each of you to be sensitive to this problem,” read the statement, shared by a family friend near Anusha Srinivasan Iyer.
Regarded as one of the biggest singers of Indian cinema, Mangeshkar began his career at the age of 13 in 1942 and had more than 30,000 songs to his credit in several Indian languages.
In his career for seven decades, he had sang a variety of unforgettable songs such as “Ajeeb Dastan Hai Ye”, “Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya”, “Neela Asman So style”, and “Tere Liye”, among others.
Singer – known as Melody Queen of India – has been praised with many awards and awards including Padma Bhushan, The Padma Vibhushan and the Chest of Saheb Phalke Award, and several national film awards.
He is also a recipient of Bharat Ratna, Indian highest civil honor.
