Health Officers in Vidarbha want to get a booster dose

Nagpur: As a world expert talks about the third covid vaccine dose or booster, some health workers in the city say they also want to get it now.
Many doctors and health workers, who got a second Covishield or Covaxin shot in February, had completed six months from their last shot and they thought the booster dose would provide additional protection.
“My last dose was in February.
So, the six-month period has passed,” said an infectious disease specialist Dr.
Nitin Shinde.
“There is nothing wrong with taking a booster dose.
But the problem is a limited supply and many people have not received even the first shot in the country,” he added.
However, many countries recommend a booster dose for certain populations that have co-morbid conditions.
Israel has begun to give a Covid booster shot to all above 50.
Russia has launched a booster dose.
Germany, France and England will begin managing the booster dose in September.
Immediately, India must also launch a policy regarding the booster dose, the doctor said.
“I won’t call it a booster dose.
The primary series itself must have 3 doses like in the hepatitis-B vaccine,” Dr Shinde said.
“The booster dose will give us a better immunity to Delta.
Now and so on, Delta will be the dominant tension in the world,” he concluded.
Epidemiologist Dr.
Anand Thatte said the third dose could be offered to those who had never contracted a natural infection for two waves.
“Also, we can do an antibody test and then decide where to give a booster or not.
It is very possible in the case of health workers, at least,” he said.
Nearly 7,000 Serum Institute of India employees have received a dose of booster.
Chairman of SII and Managing Director Dr.
Cyrus Poonawalla said that taking a dose of booster from the desired Covishield.
“I think, those who work in the Covid ward during the last two waves and start working in the third wave projected must have additional protection.
Health workers must be allowed to get booster immediately,” said Dr Avni Kundalkar, a doctor.
When the paid vaccine is now available, many non-Medicos, who will complete six months after vaccination in October-November, can also demand a dose of booster.
At least the third dose is likely to come true in December in India.
Action Plan * At present, the booster shots vaccine managed in many virus infections such as flu, tetanus, diphtheria * Covid-19 also became a virus infection, the doctor thought there was no harm in taking a booster dose * at first, those who had completed six months after getting a shot Second for Booster * As a doctor / health worker first get a vaccine in India, they will be a winner too * Who has never been infected for the last two waves must get a priority for the dose of booster * Israel gives a booster for 50+ populations, some other countries recommend it to people who are vulnerable * in India, the dose of booster can come true in the near future, but the lack of vaccines is the main obstacle
