Chandigarh: Medical services were disturbed at a government hospital in Punjab on Monday after government doctors continued their daily strikes on the recommendations of the country’s sixth payment commission that hidden basic benefits.
Government doctors observed strike a second time in a week.
Previously, they had broken down on June 25.
Medical services include outpatient services (OPD) services and elective operations, online consultation remains suspended at a government hospital.
However, emergency services and related covid services continue.
Punjab Civil Medical Services The Presidential Presidential Association, Dr.
Gagandeep Singh said the doctor protested the Sixth Punjab payment commission who recommends bending NPA from basic salary.
Doctors are also not happy with the salary commission which recommends NPA reduction from 25 percent to 20 percent.
Singh said strike calls were also supported by the Association of Punjab State Animal Officers, Rural Medical Officer Association, Punjab Medical Officer Association and the Ayurveda Punjab Officer Association.
Protesting doctors said the recommendations of the sixth payment commission could not be accepted by them.

The Punjab government has announced that it will implement the majority of recommendations from its sixth payment commission with the effect of January 1, 2016, a step that will take advantage of more than five lakh servants and retired employees.
However, some government employee associations have protested recommendations.
They objected to the formula used in the calculation of salary increase.
The state government employee last week had observed a Pentow strike.
The Punjab government has formed a Ministerial Supervisory Committee to resolve complaints of state government employees.
