Ghaziabad: There is an “drastic” increase in heart disease among young people in the last 20 years, because of the lifestyle that settled, food habits and high stress levels, according to health experts.
Some of the city-based cardiologists confirmed a massive blockage case and a heart attack on men as young as 20-25 years.
Dr.
Sumit Gupta, a senior cardiologist with Le Crest Hospital in Vasundhara, said every third person in urban areas and every fourth in rural areas suffered from heart disease.
“About one and a half months ago, a 22-year-old man fainted while playing cricket and rushed to the hospital.
Submission of his heart was found, after that angioplasty was done.
He is now on blood thinners, which might be a routine for life for him,” said Dr.
Gupta, adding that patients are smokers, which can be a blockage reason.
In other cases, the 23-year-old soccer player with a large university was rushed to the Columbia Asia hospital with a large heart attack about six months ago.
Dr.
Abhishek Singh, a salting expert who took care of, said the patient’s parents were surprised and could not understand the reason for their son’s heart problems.
“The patient then told us about his smoking habits and promised to give up.
He is now fine.
Smoking and chewing tobacco at a young age has emerged as one of the main reasons for heart attacks on young people.
Binging on fast food like pizza and burgers , accompanied by an unlucky lifestyle, both responsible, “said Dr.
Singh.
Dr.
Gupta said there were two types of heart disease – clinical and subclinical.
In subclinical cases, despite heart disease, a patient has no symptoms.
“This condition is more serious and only noticed during a random test.
If it is not treated, it is present in clinical form – a heart attack or failure.
The organ gives a lot of signal before giving up.
This includes shortness of breath when running quickly or climbing the stairs, perseverance and fatigue , “he added.
Certain forms of chest pain or pressure lasts more than a few minutes are a general sign of a heart attack, Dr.
Singh said, adding that someone must also be careful for the inconvenience in the neck, back, jaw and arm.
Shortness of breath or excessive sweating, nausea, vomiting or reducing physical abilities is another signal, he said.
Another general reason for heart disease among young people is family history, especially if the father or brother is diagnosed with coronary arterial disease before the age of 55 years, or the mother or sister is diagnosed before the age of 65.
Dr.
Rahul Ramtek, other cardiologists at Le Crest said men after the age of 25 years and women over 45 years old had to do a heart test every year.
These include blood tests, lipid profiles, sugar, thyroid, kidney function and morning urine tests.
Apart from this, ECG test, echo and treadmill must also be done.
In the past recent, Covid also causes temporary or permanent damage to the heart.
Dr.
Amit Malik, Director of Associate, Cardiology, Max Vaishali, said, “There was a significant increase in the case of a heart attack after Covid.
One reason is a lack of physical activity.
Regular exercises maintain weight under control and ensure blood circulation.”
