Heart transplant surgery is done in NIMS

Hyderabad: Heart transplant surgery was carried out at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad after traffic police created a green channel to transport the organ from Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet on Wednesday.
Organ, which was taken from Constable M Veerababu, which was declared the brain died, was transported to NIMS in just 12 minutes thanks to the green channel.
This organ was transplanted to a 30-year-old painter.
This for the first time the liver donor was given to patients in NIMS from a private hospital.
According to press releases, Veerababu, who worked in condolur, met with an accident when the wheel was hit by a bus at Gollagudem near Khammam a few days ago.
He rushed to Yashoda Hospital where he was declared a dead brain.
His family members were informed about his condition and they agreed to donate organs under the initiative of the jeevandan organ donation.
Generally the price is almost Rs of 20 Lakh to Rs 30 Lakh in a private hospital.
It was done free of charge under the Aarogyasri scheme.
