Lucknow: After the Union Cabinet agreed to a fair and remunerative price increase (FRP) for sugar, Yogi Adityanath’s main minister announced his government’s decision to increase the country’s consultation price (SAP) for plants, ahead of the next destroyer season.
The state government has left SAP unchanged at Rs 315 (for general varieties) for three consecutive years since 2018-19.
However, the government rises, however, increases the sap of Rs 10 per quintal immediately after assuming strength in 2017.
This step is expected to calm farmers who are resting, especially in the west region and above, ahead of the election of high betting assembly next year.
CM also announced sugar cane arrears since 2010 will be paid before the next destructive season.
“We will ensure payment on time and increase sugar cane prices,” said Yogi.
“The decision will be communicated to all stakeholders so that farmers are not mistaken,” Yogi said, after meeting the farmer delegation, including members of the BJP Kisan Morcha.
On Wednesday, the center raised FRP from Rs 285 to Rs 290 per quintal, sparked speculation that the state government would fall in line and collect sap in the sugar cane crusher from October.
“The state government has managed to pay more than 85% of stick contributions to farmers for the destructive season 2029-21.
Note Rs 1.45 lakh Crore is paid to farmers in the past four years,” a senior official at the Tebantan Department told TII.
He said, the stick payment was carried out, although there was a challenge posed by a pandemic that brought economic and industrial activities to traffic jams.
Experts say sugar demand in the commercial sector dropped dramatically and sugar factories faced contracted payment capacity.
The Association of Mills Sugar India (ISMA) said the FRP increase had increased hope about the increase in the minimum selling price (MSP) as well.
“It is necessary to help sugar factories accommodate higher sugar cane prices to farmers in the current season and next season,” Isma said.
Association said, MSP from sugar remained static for more than 30 months, even though the sugar cane frp was raised by Rs 10 / Quintal at 2020-21.
Further note that the Minister of Manports, Niti Aayog, Secretary Committee and several state governments have been seeking to increase MSP sugar between March and July last year.
“We hope the government will pay attention to this recommendation and increase MSP to RS 35 / kg.
The MSP will be adequate to cover up the increase in sugar cane and the cost of producing sugar,” the association is maintained.
Interestingly, the decision of the Center to increase the announcement of FRP and Yogi Aditentalath to raise the price of sugar cane coming a day after Punjab came to ruling the sap of Rs 50 from Rs 310 to Rs 360 per quintal.
The opposition ranking quickly reacts with Rashtriya Lok Dal Chaif Jayant Chaudhary sweeping the request for increasing sap at Uttar Pradesh too.
It also comes to schedule ‘Mahapachayat’ scheduled by Kisan Sanyukt Morcha at Muzaffarmagar at 5.
Morcha consists of Bhartiya Kisan Union, one of the factions that stand in the ranks of farmers’ agitation on new agricultural laws.
BKU Vice President Harinam Singh Verma said, the problem of sugar cane farmers would clearly highlight in ‘Mahapachayat’ to pressure BJP in power to take the steps of farmer welfare.
