PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Administration has prepared for heavy rainfall after the meeting department issued a warning of heavy rainfall over the region until November 19.
The meeting department said low pressure formed above the North Andaman Sea could concentrate into depression on November 17 and cross the coast of Andhra Pradesh on November 18 leads to heavy rainfall in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
In the release, Puducherry District Collector Purva Garg said the government had directed all emergency support functionaries and lines department officials to expand full assistance to the public in difficulty.
In the event that it happened, Garg advised the public to contact the control room with a pulse-free number – 1031 (Communication, Law & Order and Regarding Crime), 112 (Emergency Response Support System), 1073 (Traffic Complaints), 1091 (Women’s Complaints) , 1093 (coastal police emergency assistance), 1070 (natural disasters such as complaints of flood / typhoon rescue), 1912 (Power supply), 108 (Emergency Medical & Ambulance), 101 (Covid-19 Helpline), 101 (related to fire / search and rescue) and 1554 (center of maritime rescue sub-coordination, coast guards).
He said the Puducherry area had received a total of 632mm rainfall since the beginning of the northeast of October 26.
So far, the Puducherry region has received 1.863mm rainfall this year with a normal rainfall of 1.380mm.
