Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in remote areas in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar until September 10 three days.
Nasik, Pune, Satara, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingli, Nanded and Kolhapur Regency have been placed on orange warnings with estimates of heavy rain to very heavy in places isolated on Tuesday.
Fishermen have been prohibited from exploring the sea and other water bodies.
The authorities have asked residents to remain vigilant and keep the stock of important items at home after severe rainfall predictions by regional meteorological centers for the KONKAN region for the next three days.
Shubhangi Bhute, Scientists, IMD, said, “In 2-3 days, Konkan Utara (including Mumbai, Thane) is expected to witness heavy rain.
This is caused by a low-pressure area located above the northwest and side by side of the West Bay, outside South Odisha, North Coast Andhra Pradesh.
“Authorities also asked people who live near the banks of the river to remain vigilant and shift to safer places if the surface of the water rises in their area.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for Mumbai on Tuesday and Thursday, while heavy rains until very heavy are predicted on Wednesday under the orange warning.
Mumbai City has received 4.41 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 8 am on Tuesday.
The East Suburbs recorded 5.16 mm and the western edge recorded 5.51 mm rainfall, according to BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Meanwhile, a high wave of 4.48 meters is expected at 12:16 a.m.
at Mumbai on Tuesday.
