Bhubaneswar: The new low-pressure area has formed above the Andaman Sea on Saturday, increasing heavy rain opportunities in Ganjam and Gajapati districts on Wednesday, said IMD.
Such rainfall activities can increase for one or two more days, mostly in South Odisha and district side by side, due to the influence of the system expected to cross the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday after intensifying into depression, the estimate is added.
The Bulletin of the IMD said the system tended to move west-northwest and concentrate into depression in the North Andaman Sea and side by side with Bengal Southeast Bay on Monday.
It is likely to continue to move towards the northwest, it increases further and reaches near the coast of Andhra Pradesh.
With the current rainfall activity continues in several places in coastal bags and side by side because of the trough line, IMD has issued a heavy warning of rainfall in six Puri Beach, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Cuttack, Khurda and Nayagarh for Sunday.
Umashankar Das, a scientist at the Central IMD center, said the rainfall because the fresh system would increase in South Odisha bags on Wednesday.
He said the night temperature, which has increased over the past few days, will continue for the next four-five days.
Meanwhile, the Ganjam government is preparing for a possible flood situation after the commemoration of the IMD.
Life in several regions in coastal districts, including mixed, discarded out of equipment, when Ganjam faced the burden of rainfall for three consecutive days.
“Even though all the main rivers in the district flow under the level of danger and reservoirs are below their storage capacity, we are preparing for the possibility of flooding because the IMD has expected more rain in the next few days,” said Ganjam Vijay District Collector Amruta Kouse.
At least 10 areas in the district recorded rainfall of more than 100mm in the last 24 hours until 8am on Saturday.
